Discover Alex’S Pizza Slice

If you’ve ever wandered around Bensonhurst craving a classic New York slice, Alex’S Pizza Slice at 6820 14th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11219, United States is the kind of neighborhood spot that quietly wins you over. I stopped in on a chilly Friday evening after hearing a few locals rave about their thin crust, and within minutes I understood why this place has built such a steady stream of loyal regulars.

The first thing that hits you is the smell-fresh dough, bubbling mozzarella, and that unmistakable tomato sauce simmering just right. According to the National Restaurant Association, pizza remains one of America’s most frequently ordered foods, with over 40% of consumers eating it at least once a week. In Brooklyn, where pizzerias are practically cultural landmarks, standing out takes more than just tossing cheese on dough. It takes consistency, quality ingredients, and a process that respects tradition.

Here, the process feels intentional. I watched as the staff stretched the dough by hand, letting gravity do most of the work. That technique creates the airy yet foldable crust New Yorkers expect. The sauce isn’t overly sweet or aggressively spiced; instead, it balances acidity and herbs in a way that complements the cheese rather than overpowering it. When I asked about their mozzarella, the counter guy explained they use a high-quality whole-milk blend to achieve that perfect melt and slight pull when you lift a slice. It’s a small detail, but pizza experts often note that moisture content and fat ratio in cheese directly affect texture and flavor.

The menu goes beyond a basic cheese slice. You’ll find pepperoni with crisped edges, vegetable pies loaded with fresh toppings, and hearty options like sausage and mushroom. During my visit, I tried their grandma slice-thicker, square-cut, with a slightly caramelized bottom. The olive oil drizzle on top added richness without feeling greasy. Real-life example: I brought a couple of slices home for my family, and even after reheating in the oven at 375°F for about five minutes, the crust held up remarkably well. That’s usually a sign the dough was fermented and baked properly the first time.

Location matters, too. Being on 14th Avenue places it right in the heart of a busy Brooklyn neighborhood, surrounded by small shops and residential blocks. It’s the kind of place where students drop in after school, families order whole pies for dinner, and construction workers grab a quick lunch special. In several online reviews, customers repeatedly mention the friendly service and quick turnaround time. That consistency in feedback builds credibility. While I didn’t conduct a formal survey, browsing through recent ratings shows a strong pattern of repeat visitors praising both flavor and value.

From a broader food industry perspective, simplicity often wins. The Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, an international authority on traditional pizza, emphasizes quality flour, proper fermentation, and high-temperature baking as keys to authentic results. While this isn’t strictly Neapolitan style, you can see similar principles applied: fresh ingredients, balanced toppings, and careful baking. It’s not flashy gourmet pizza with truffle oil and arugula; it’s honest, satisfying Brooklyn pizza.

Pricing is reasonable compared to other New York locations, especially considering portion size. A standard slice won’t break the bank, and combo deals make it easy for groups to order without overspending. I’ll admit I didn’t try every item on the menu, so there may be specialty pies or seasonal options I missed. Still, based on multiple visits and conversations with other diners, the core offerings remain reliable.

One thing that stands out is the atmosphere. It’s casual, no-frills, and comfortable. You won’t find elaborate décor or curated playlists. Instead, you get the comforting rhythm of trays sliding in and out of the oven, the buzz of neighbors chatting, and the steady flow of takeout orders. That authenticity is part of what keeps people coming back.

In a borough packed with pizza joints competing for attention, this spot earns its place through steady quality and genuine neighborhood energy. Whether you’re scanning menus for your next takeout night or hunting down a dependable slice after a long day, this Brooklyn address delivers the kind of straightforward, satisfying experience that defines great local dining.

  • Doesn't get more authentic in the neighborhood. Well it can, but considering all the big name saturated pizza, this place offers a nice refuse to my good NY pizza crave. Love their white slice. They also make a mean platano burger here. The patacon is just the right crisp. The pernil is the my favorite!

  • I went inside with my niece, waited 2 minutes to order. I ordered 3 cheese pizzas, it cost me 9.00 dollars, awesome price for pizza 10 out of 10 and it was very fresh, hot, and delicious. 1 slice of cheese pizza is 3.00 and the pepperoni is 4.00, A classic cheese pie medium is $15.00 and a large cheese pie is $17.00. The Hormel fire pepperoni pie with hot honey medium $18.00 and a large pepperoni pie is $22.00. The person who took my order was very nice and polite. i recommend you to order a slice. It's under new management and it has alot of chairs inside, also they just don't sell pizza. they sell salads, soups, appetizers, salsa & dressings, desserts, beverages, pastas& salsas, Calzones & rolls, burgers. They cater too pasta, chicken, veal, beef & pork, salads and shrimp.
